We Came, We Saw, We Kicked A**es... Gratz to All. (Pics to Follow)
For those that didn't hear and or don't read the gmotd, MV cleared karazhan last week in its entirety. We have really come together and improved our gear and tactics. This is an accomplishment that should not be taken lightly. The final two bosses in Karazhan were giving us a bit of trouble for a week, but we have them down now!
MV went from a handful of friends to true raiding entity in under 100 days!
Next, we would like to form a second Karazhan group to begin gearing for Gruul's Lair!!
So if you have a desire to join us and our new goals, please sign up for the Karazhan run and we will grow together as a team!
To allow our members with significant others time to actually grind spouse / gf / bf faction...
MV's raid schedule is shifting and splitting into a new version of the previous schedule.
The new raiding schedule is Thurs - Friday Sunday - Monday with Saturday's off.
What does this mean for our membership?
It will allow your illustrious GM and others to not get killed by our respective partners outside of the game.
Our patented "Help A Member" days will be shifted back to Wednesdays starting this week
Monday nights will because our "Mop up" night before the reset. Meaning if we are close to clearing the next encounter we will form a raid group and press our luck
This new schedule should make it much easier on the guild to attend our raids and have fun.
Any concerns about this schedule shift should be addressed to your class officer.
Mortuus Viator uses a DKP (Dragon Kill Point) system for handling loot distribution during raids, and WebDKP for managing points. This Add-on is only needed by the officers.
Earning DKP
DKP is awarded at officer discretion, but general guidelines are as follows:
10 DKP for participating in the entirity of the clearing up to a boss, from either the previous boss or the start of the raid. 20 DKP for a boss kill. 20 DKP is usually awarded on “bad” nights, as determined by the officers. 20 DKP for "going the distance" - being present at the raid from FIRST FORMATION to the end of the designated raid time. 5 DKP (to all but person responsible) for accidental wipes. 50 DKP for a first kill (+50 DKP/week after 2nd week of trying)
Additional DKP rewards may be given by officers for other reasons, including but not limited to: meritorious conduct, 'above-and-beyond' rewards, and error corrections.
DKP are awarded as soon after the event as practical, and before any bidding on loot, and can be spent immediately. The master looter on the raid will maintain the DKP tables for the raid, and will answer queries about a member's current DKP count as soon as is convenient for them.
DKP may in the future be awarded for characters that have attributes well above minimum raid requirements, promptness, and such.
Spending DKP
All purple quality items from bosses are subject to DKP bidding, and will go through the following steps:
Linking of all DKP-spending items to raid chat for all to look over, along with a reminder of minimum bids (typically 200 DKP).
WebDKP will be launched to take in bids for the item, with a typically 60 second timer (this may be lengthened at officer discretion).
Members interested in the item must announce their bids in /raid, using the format !bid . Members may not bid more points than they have. Members who do not have enough points for a minimum bid, but still would like the item, may put in a !bid of 1. Until the timer expires, unlimited number of bids and rebids are permitted, with a minimum increment of 10 DKP each time.
Bids that come in at the very last second in an attempt to 'beat the clock' and lock out other bidders unfairly will not be honored (and may result in disciplinary action).
The winner is the person who bid the most points who can afford the item. In the case of ties (which should never happen, with the minimum increment), the person with the most banked DKP is the winner. The winner's bid (or the minimum bid, in the case of a !bid 1) is deducted from their DKP total.
An example:
Ieldar links the [Bracers of Uberness] for a minimum of 200 DKP to the raid chat.
Ieldar's WebDKP mod announces to the raid that bidding is now open for 60 seconds.
Captnfrosty only holds 150 DKP (short of the 200 DKP minimum), and types “/raid !bid 1” (without the quotes) to indicate his interest. Agarwaen (holding 1000 DKP) then does “/raid !bid 200” to put in the minimum. At this point, Captnfrosty cannot win the Bracers. Ieldar counters with “/raid !bid 210” - the minimum amount he can increment by. Over the next 30 seconds, Agar and Ieldar go back and forth in raid chat, going up by 10s, 15s, and 20s, ending up with Agar having the last say with a “/raid !bid 325”.
Iamajerk puts in a “/raid !bid 335” 0.1 seconds before bidding is closed. Ieldar invalidates the bid, and sends a sternly worded letter to Iamajerk.
Agarwaen is awarded the item, and 325 DKP are deducted from his total. No points are deducted from Captnfrosty or Ieldar.
Now, in the above example, if no one but Captnfrosty has bid, he would have won the [Bracers of Uberness], and would have had 200 DKP subtracted, leaving him at -50. Note that members at Courier rank are not permitted to go further down than -200 DKP. Heralds and higher have no bottom limit.
Alts on Raids
Alternate characters on raids that are asked for by the officers will receive credit on their mains for DKP earned while in the raid. Alts may bid on loot using the “/raid !bid 1” option, taking precedence over members in negative DKP but not over mains. If an item is won, the DKP value is deducted from the main.
Members on Standby
A standby list with 1 member of each main type (tank, healer, and DPS) may be maintained at the raid leader's discretion. If such a list exists, it will be announced, and members may volunteer to hold the slot. Members on standby are awarded ½ points of the raid if they are never called, simply for volunteering. Members on standby are permitted to do other things, but they are required to report to the raid instance entrance within 5 minutes of being called by the raid leader. This means the standby person should most likely have the closest inn to the instance set as home, and be ready to hustle. 5 minutes is enough time to spend a minute and a half “wrapping up”, hearthing to Darkshire, and taking the fast mount to either Karazhan. Failure to arrive within the 5 minute window results in no points being awarded and a 100 DKP penalty.
Changing Mains
A member can change which character is considered their main on guild leader approval. When the main is transferred, 25% of the held DKP will be transferred over, and be on a one-month loot freeze, during which DKP is still earned.
Switching mains to benefit the guild to fulfill a badly needed role (as determined by the guildleader) may exempt a person from the above penalties.
Yeah, We Are Touching the Displays... and There Isn't Anything You Can Do About It!!... *Touch*, *Touch*, *Touch*....
After much to do, MV Took down the Mighty Curator...
Lead by our Semi-Fearless Leader, and "The Gnome", Mortuus Viator brought on the perfect storm against this powerful foe and emerged victorious!...
The Guild Leadership would also like to extend a special "Thank You" and recognition to our lead resto druid Malie for his sacrifice and willingness to step out of the raid to give us a better shot at the Curator by bringing in an additional DPS Class.
If it wasn't for Malie's willingness to be part of the team we might not have gotten this kill completed! Thank you Malie...
Personally, I think Agarwaen said it best when he said "Onward, and Upward!!!"...
Click on the Red "Register" link on the Personal Menu in the left hand column of the website
This will take you to the phpBB registration screen. Verify that you are at least 13 years of age (and hopefully older)
Then fill out the registration form. Use your main character name with the first letter capitalized as the login name, and a valid email is required (or else you can't activate your account)
Click the submit button
Open your email client and log into the email account you used in your registration. You will see a new message from the site, and inside the message is a link to click to activate your account. Click this link.
Enter your login in the first box in the Personal menu, and the password in the box below that and click login.
You are now "Registered", so all that is left is the "Apply" portion of the process.
Click on the Red "Forum" link in the Main Menu in the left hand column of the site.
This will bring you to the main guild forums. Click on the "Recruitment" forum.
Inside the Recruitment forum you will see a thread named "Application Thread". Click on this thread.
Inside this thread is a post example and blank template that you can copy. Highlight the template by clicking and dragging over it, then right click and select "Copy" and then hit your browsers "Back" button to return to the Recruitment forum index.
Click on "New Topic".
In the New Topic screen click inside the large text box and then right click and select "Paste" from the menu. This will place the copied template into the text box.
In the Title box Enter then name or your Character, Level, Class and Spec. (This is just so the officers know what spec you like to play)
In the box that you pasted the template into, click in there and fill out the template information. You only need to fill out what you are comfortable with, but please be as detailed as possible.
Click the Submit button.
Thats It!, You have successfully "Registered & Applied" to join Mortuus Viator.
An officer of the guild or I will contact you shortly in game.
I hope this clears up people's confusion and allows us to garner even more support in our guild endeavors.
It is with great sadness that I inform the guild of the loss of our Wolf Hybrid, Kuma.
Kuma entered the world on November 16th, 2000 and left this world Today, the 17th day of September, 2007.
She was young and active until the day she passed and would have been 7 years old this year.
She was the most gentle, intelligent, and mischevious creature I have ever known. There is a hole in our souls that will never close, but this is the nature of life, a great circle of birth, life, love, and death. Each can not exist without the others. The true cause of her natural passing is unknown, but suspected to be a massive cardiac arrest, aneurism, or seizure.
She is survived by her adoptive mother and father, Kirii and Darkleaf. We are in a state of great sorrow, and will be offline for several days to mourn.
If you need anything guild related we are leaving the guild in Ieldar's capable hands.
In This Particular Case, the Butler Wasn't the Murderer...
Mind You He Tried... But We Simply Refused to be a Victim!..
The stewart of Karazhan attempted desperately to make a place for us... but we have never been good dinner guests.
We set out and prepared for the worst, steeling ourselves with an MV pasttime.... The lost art form of the Table Dance...
We read up on the strategy to take down Moroes, and found it to be patently false (Whoever wrote that strategy about killing all the adds and then Moroes.... LIES!!!)
After several challenges with this "strategy" we decided to make our own... In MV if you don't know the answer... then make the answer.
While this strategy was being formulated... Kirii said "If we clear this Ill strip for 'The Gnome'."... Watch what you wish for Honey...
Never one to welch on a bet, and the eternal exhibitionist... Kirii made good on her promises... Talk about beauty and the beast!
Notice in the last frame that Kirii also reminded "The Gnome" that she doesn't care if he lives in Vegas... Hands off the merchandise!!...
So now its MV 2 Karazhan 0... And Kirii is a great halftime show!!
Attumen The Huntsman was the first mob to feel our special brand of affection...
How did it turn out? Better for us than it was for him I can assure you!...
Through the concerted efforts of our brave band of misfits we annihilated the huntsman, and also neutered his horse (MV Reminding you to spade or neuter your pets!.. or we will do it for you!)
Great Kill everyone... But But PUGS can clear the Huntsman... No Impressed.... Moving On.
What could possibly happen if you take a fledgling guild and attempted to run some of the harder instance content?
Mortuus Viator has heard many horror stories about what is required to get into Karazhan and be successful.
Many have said that we would have to require our players to spec a specific way, have tons of constraints as to the level of gear our members possess and that if we weren't "Hard Core" we would fall flat on our faces.
They're Admittedly Crazy... And Deserving of a "Section Eight"
But... If It Wasn't for These Brave Souls
Your Fearless Leaders Would Have Been Left Holding the Bag Come Our First Raid Into Karazhan
Mortuus Viator would like to extend a warm thank you for the time and efforts of a select few from the illustrious guild "Section Eight" for helping Kirii and I blaze through the Caverns of Time portion of our Karazhan keys.
Burien - Warrior Extrodinaire
Lunaazul - Beautiful and Talented
Trinic - Handled ALL the Adds Singlehandedly!
What can we say but thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Look forward to seeing you guys in Karazhan with us some time soon!
Then I Don't Want To Hear Any Complaints When You Are Feeling Lonely!..
As a many of you know, this is the weekend that we are planning on starting our Karazhan raids. This has been harped on repeatedly and the time to begin is upon us. The last several weeks the guild has spent finishing up on attunement runs to get more of our membership keyed for Karazhan.
If you chose to "Do your own thing" that is fine as we are a "Different" kinda guild, but remember two points
Back keying will only take place on nights that we cannot raise a raid force or in PUGS (*shudder*)
Honor points, Daily Quests, Alt Play and Resource Farming will NOT getting into Karazhan!
Also, if you haven't done so already, I would figure out how to create a profile in the raid calendar and input your characters so you can sign up for our raids at they are posted by the leadership. If you can't get in or figure it out hit me up when you see me online or PM me on this website (Left hand "Personal Menu" > "PM" link to username DarkleafNight)
Members that sign up on the Raid Calendar will be given priority over those that "Just log in", so if you end up sitting on your backside one night cuz you don't use the website or haven't registered, don't blame me.
Hope to see you all online this weekend so we can kick the tires and light the fires in Karazhan!!!
There is this vicious rumor that there is a new expansion in the works, but I think it's pure speculation. If only there was some sort of proof to establish its existence
Check out this and many other Blizzcon 2007 Images in the new and improved image gallery!! Now with 100% more Blizzcon goodness.
Kirii and I just wanted to let everyone know that we missed running with you this weekend and can't wait to get things back to normal.
In the Raid Discussion forum, There is a thread that is requesting a character status as to who is attuned for what instances and their preferred availability.
Please locate this thread and use the example template to outline where your main character is at progression wise.
This information is invaluable to the guild leadership in planning appropriate runs and raids, and allowing us to discern the "Big Picture" as to where we are as a team.
If you do not choose to share your progress and preferred raid availablity, then don't complain later when we aren't aligned with your needs, or your class has a few more members added to it!
This week we have added some great features to the site.
We have reorganized the left hand menu to make finding the registration link easier to find and expanded on the tools that the guild has at its disposal.
The new tools include the much requested "Raid Calendar" and the "DKP System" database for tracking our loot points.
Please check out the new features and let us know what you think!
IT'S Wednesday!!!.... Do you know where our membership is!!
Just wanted to remind our members that today is "Help a Member" day in MV.
On Wednesdays we encourage our Level 70 players to help those that haven't attained this vaulted level with quests and runs that they need help to complete.
So if you have any group / dungeon / raid quests that need attention, then post a message in the "Help Scheduling" forum.
If you can't see the forum when you log in then there is a problem with your access level. Please send me a private message on the site and I will correct it asap.
As the guild moves forward with its plans to do more of the end-game content together, it has come to the attention of the leadership that we have no formal raid / run schedule.
As the leader of MV, the following is the proposed raid / run schedule draft.

Please keep in mind that we are not a mandatory attendance guild at the present time (and probably never will be either)
The purpose of this news item is to inform you, our membership, of the nights of the week that we would like to run on.
NOTE: Wednesdays are “Help a Member” days in MV.
This special day allows the guild to focus on those that need help today, but will be an asset tomorrow!
ATTENTION: If there is a night that we are overloaded for raiding, preference for slots will be given to active participants of “Help A Member” days first! So in helping others you are helping yourself as well.
Currently we are under an open recruitment, which is very lenient in its process.
All that it takes to qualify is that you have one character that is level 50+ and you run an instance or quest with a member so we can check out your skills.
